1. Grow your own sunflowers (FYI these are seriously like the hardiest plants - no joke).
2. Once they are really big and they seem to be wilting and you can see the "black" of the seed cut them down.
3. Dry them out a bit.
4. Remove the seeds - discarding any small ones or ones that seem to have been half eaten by a bird
5. Wash them in a strainer
6. Measure out about 8 cups of water and 1 tbsp of salt (if you don't want them salty you can forgo the salt or 1/2 it)
7. Add in sunflower seeds and boil.
8. Stir with an awesome spoon like a happy spoon
9. Let boil for about 3 minutes then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours
13. Drain seeds and do not rise.
14. Let dry on a paper towel for 24 to 48 hours until seeds seem dry.
15. spread in a thin layer on a cookie sheet and bake for 30 minutes at 300 degrees.
16. Allow to cool then package to give away to friends and family.
First hand knowledge...they are delicious! Thanks for sending them to the boys Katie! They downed them fast.```
