Happy birthday Lil Schreve

My nephew turned one earlier this month.  He had a pool/bbq party.  He’s so cute in his little bow tie.  He is just the sweetest little guy.  He is so chill.  He reminds me of his dad. It took him a minute and then he was into the cake.  And he was very into presents and swimming.  He’s just learned to walk and is babbling like a pro.
My kids loved the pool part of the party; even though they couldn’t touch they felt very comfortable in their vests.  We brought lil’schreve a slide which all the kids enjoyed.

Oh uncle JJ made a surprise for his birthday too.

Three cousins.

Dinosaur book from gma.

38 Birthday Party For Jones

Despite someone wanting his party at ChuckeCheese.  I threw Jones a party at the local park/pool.  Theme piñatas and Pools since Jones really really loves piñatas. My cake design wasn’t exactly pro but who really cares.  Jones had such a good time.
The kids played on the playground,  then we opened gifts and did the piñata and cake.  I made the kids goodie bags with googles and sunglasses and pool toys.  We then went to the pool.  Only half of the kids came to the pool but it was still so fun as NOBODY was at the pool that day because it was overcast.
Jones fulfilled his dreams of transformers and ninja turtles.  And he slept soooo good that night. Now be prepared for a bazillion photos.

Jones and a few friends from School.  Brianna Devyn Jones Chloe, and Owen (Chloe is Owens big sister)

Kathleen and I.  She’s wearing the top of the piñata.

Happy birthday Jones!

Today is my oldest kids birthday!  It seems like just yesterday he was a tiny baby with the most adorable crying dimple.  And now he’s well on his way into boyhood.
He delights in earth sciences, and social events.  He is interested in so many things.  He’s recently taken to playing real legos and building things.  He generates ideas for school projects and activities for us to do.  He loves playing with his friends especially active games.
He has a crush on a older girl charlotte, who he once thought was the princess charlotte.   Despite his crush if you ask who his girlfriend is he always says Kacie (she must be his first love).
He adores swimming and has become so brave in the pool - jumping in head first.  He wants to be a dinosaur when he grows up even though he knows they extinct.  He snuggles me when he’s sleepy.  He can’t wait for ice skating and soccer to start up again and asks me almost daily if he has them.  He loves going to church and passionately believes that Jesus loves him more than ice cream.
He misses his dad and he prays that he can get the treatment he needs.   He asks questions and is thoughtful.  He is wise beyond his years.
He still wears the same clothes from two years ago although he’s getting two tall.  He would pick tie dye everyday if we had enough tie dye.  He has wavy thick hair and my eyes sometimes blue sometimes gray and sometimes hazel.  He loves my quilts and would like to make one.
He can’t wait for family vacation, riding on a plane, and going to the beach.  He asks if sharks will be on the beach.  He brings me immense joy everyday and I delight in being his mother.
Oh Jones you are so magical.  happy birthday!

Rain Fish Art Project

The other day when I got Jones from school he handed me a bag he had filled with bits of recycled things he collected at school as a “treat” for me.  I looked at the collection of things puzzled and trying to figure out what they might be?? Treasure for a 3 almost 4 year old?? “for rain fish” he explained.
“Ah ha.  Yes rain fish.”  I knew then what he meant.  Rain Fish was a book we had been reading from the library.  In the book the author sees fish made of recycled materials.  And this Jones was telling me he took wanted rain fish.  So that evening we made Rain Fish.
We glued loves of bits of recycled items together to create “fish like” shapes although Thea’s is a little abstract.  They turned out so fun and whimsical and the kids were excited to make them.
Jones was so clever to come up with this idea on his own recalling the book and the results are so fun and special.
grandmas -

Jones’s which he added that big arm on but I think looks like a fat lower lip.

Thea’s she was really into glue.  I do so love the pompon ear brow or at least that’s what I am envisioning it is.

Marking off “Art Project” from our bucket list with this one, and we have hung these in the bedroom hall.

Reds Game

A Reds Game was on our bucket list.  I pre purchased the tickets thru our local little league as a fundraiser they did.
We took snacks and beverages with us it’s totally allowed it also saves like $4/bottle of water.  We got there a little late because We had to wait in line at will call. My kids didn’t mind.  Jones was very fascinated by the whole experience - the ball park, the people, the game, the boat in the outfield, homeruns, songs, the teeshirt shooting gun.  He was very entertained and we run into his friend Luke. Thea was less entertained and wanted to crawl under the seats and play in the aisle.  Next time I would say she probably should stay home 2 year olds aren’t really ideal for ball games. But we had a great time and Jones asked if he could go again - so winning.

Hello June - Simple Goals

June is here and that means just a month until my birthday!!! I am making my June Goals super simple:
  • Work on Summer Bucket List
  • Read some books - summer reading club
  • Throw Jones a birthday party
That’s it.  Made it simple.

Also for the record I organized the closet (on my 2018 52 list) and cleaned off my desk and put away the 25 - half started quilt projects I am not actively working on.
