Day 5 - Sadly I missed blogging yesterday although Sunday is usually the laziest day around here and yesterday was no exception - so I have no excuses. So here's a little pic from yesterday of some gifts I finally finished and wrapped! With like 3 days left I'm starting to wonder if I can finish the rest of the gifts!

10 Days of Christmas - This Was Supposed to Be About Wrapping - Day 4
Day 4 - I was going to finish a few gifts today and then post about wrapping but I only wrapped a few gifts for my mom today. I didn't actually finish anything I'm making and get it wrapped! Ugh! One week until Christmas and I have about 10 partially finished gifts - I guess I better step it up a notch. Anyhow we have been watching some Christmas or "Christmasy" movies around here a bit - having a DVR is great because you can record whatever and watch it whenever without even going to a Redbox. A few of my favorites included...
Elf - I am not a huge Will Ferrell fan but I do enjoy a bit of comedy with Christmas and I love the craftiness.
Oh I got to watch Charlie Brown Christmas - Love that sad little tree.
Babes In Toyland - I haven't been able to see this one this year but this is one of my favorite christmas movies from my childhood. And you know until I googled it I had no idea that Keanu Reeves was in it.
And National Lampoon Christmas! Love this one I still have it on VHS and I watch it every year. Oh and Jono I think you should dress like Clark for Christmas because ties + cardigans + santa hats are in.

10 Days of Christmas - Presents I Didn't Buy - Day 3
Day 3 - It's no secret around here I don't buy Christmas presents - I make them. But the other day when I was out thrift store shopping I took some pictures of some of the presents I didn't buy for people.
Jono and Schreve consider yourself unlucky that you didn't get these lovely action figures Michelangelo for Jono and Hulk for Schreve of course. FYI if they faced off in a fight I think the Michelangelo and his turtle power would totally win.
I was going to get these boots for my friend Kelly she "loves" country music.
And this Disney princess keyboard was almost purchased for Lita.
Chris this puppy was for you. I just thought that Barry was so dreamy that you would appreciate it.
Mom I could have bought you this jar of old beans to decorate your shelf.
And JJ because you are hip with the latest technology I thought you might like this state of the art fax machine.
And I thought that Uncle Paul might like this groovy tape collection.
What are the presents you didn't buy?

10 Days of Christmas - Dear Santa - Day 2
Day 2 - I wrote a letter for Santa for my mailbox that is on the tree. I hope he doesn't get me all these things as I also told them to some other people (whoops)! I am really hoping he delivers on my vintage Mercedes Benz as I have been waiting for that and they just are not that easy to locate and it would just be the cutest with a bow on it.

10 Days of Christmas - Beautiful Christmastime Story
Day 1 - I found this article from the Smithsonian Mag and I thought it was a lovely Christmastime story and thought I would share. Who doesn't love stories of good deeds at Christmas even when they are 80 years old.

Decking the Bungalow
Been trying to get into the Christmas spirit around here, Listening to Christmas Carols (including Wham! and the Sex Pistols), baking cookies, getting and decorating the tree, working on Christmas gifts, and taking the photos for our Christmas card.
View of our Tree - we got a real one first time since I was a kid.
Baking Christmas cookies - I used some cutters Val gave me a few years back.
Our cookies were neon colored but they are still fun.
I got these giant Christmas balls and I just LOVE them we keep finding ourselves wanting to take photos in them.
Picking out a tree at Lowes - we thought we needed a little one because we don't have really high ceilings, seems it could have been another two feet taller.
We had fun trimming it up.
Look there's the ball again.
Everyone picked out their own Christmas ornament for the tree - Jono picked out these really "fancy ones". Oh and notice he's wearing Grandpa sweater - he keeps asking if he looks like Grandpa in it.
I think I broke like 15 ornaments when decorating the tree.
I love that we have tacky ornaments like sushi for the tree - thanks to whoever it was that made them for me I think it was Holly.
This is the ornament we picked out for momo.
More soon from the bungalow of joy. Tis the season to be jolly.

Someplace New - The Saffron Cafe
We went out the other night to try someplace new in Indy, which is also on my list at #8 (which for the record we probably already did like 4 times this year). We we ended up at Saffron Cafe which is downtown right near Mass Ave and Penn - actually like 2 block from my old apartment at the Ambassador. The Saffron Cafe is a Moroccan place and we really enjoyed Moroccan food the last few times we had it, and can you really go wrong with a country's cuisine when they also have Casablanca? Seriously no.
Anyhow we started out with an appetizer called the Bastilla which while it sounds like a dessert because of the almonds and honey it is not a dessert there's this meat inside and the filo dough it's made with is awesome. It's very delectable I recommend it to anyone better than falafel although I'm sure they make excellent falafel at Saffron Cafe. Jono ordered the cumin chicken tajine and I ordered the lamb tajine both which are served with bread. Jono's had a lovely spicey flavor to it however it was as delightful as mine partially because the chicken isn't boneless. My lamb tajine while it looks rather "ick" as it's a stewed lamb with peas and chickpea was lovely - my only regret is I didn't have room to eat it all. Anyhow our experience at the Saffron Cafe was most excellent and we have to give it up to the waiter phil and the hostess and even the chef who poured the drinks, next time perhaps we'll get to go when there are belly dancers. Oh and one more thing make reservations as the place is very small and cozy which adds to the atmosphere. Oh and before I forget some photos...
I love this wall it reminds me of the three wisemen traveling to see baby jesus.
This is the Bastilla - it's nuts on top then dough then filling then more dough then filling etc etc. excellent!
Oh and I had hot tea since it was like 15 degrees outside - isn't this tea set devine?
This is the Lamb Tajine - the bowls are also fabulous don't you think.
And jono with his cumin chicken tajine
And another picture from outside - oh DO NOT park in that lot it's for the apartments nearby.
Oh and these lights are fabulous my iPhone photos make them look rather bland but they are very colorful and fun.
