#1 - 52 Postcards to Katie Jones

I am a creature of habit and I was really good about sending my postcards to my regular post card people until probably about April and then I just stopped finding ones that wanted to be sent or maybe I ran out of stamps (postcard people I will send you postcards again soon). So today in order to fulfill the #1 goal on my list I went out and got 52 postcards and postcard stamps and I am sending 52 postcards to other Katie Joneses. I hope they get them and enjoy them or at the very least they make them smile. Most of them are these groovy old prints from around Indiana and I wrote things on them like "Drive In's are Swell - I {heart} drive ins", or "Do you have white castle in your state? I don't like it." And all of them are signed :) the other Katie Jones.

#18 - Vending Art

The lovely #18 is done. I think I bought some vended art in Rhode Island too but just in case that was last year I figured I better buy some today since it's the last day to complete my 2009 list. So I took myself to the eiteljorg museum to get some more. This is probably my 12th piece of art bought in a vending machine - there's something so fun about not knowing what you are going to get. Today's score was a piece by helen harris - it's very wintery seems an appropriate option for today - you can see more of Helen's art here.

Best of 2009 - Jones and Co. Quotes

I have been sitting here thinking about the next list while my stew stews (I made us stew for supper). I was thinking maybe I could post - Best Books - but I only really read four books all year and I can't say any of them were the best although The General and Mrs. Washington was pretty good if you like history - I also read one about Charles the I but I haven't a clue what it was called something like Sending him to the Scaffold?? who knows but if I was writing a book about him I might have titled it that - these books by the way were my #44 on my list. So anyhow if you like history you should check them out - I really enjoyed reading about the Washington's. Anyhow I digress so here's today's best of list - Jones and Co. Quotes. These are all things someone in the Jones and Co clan said this year I know I started logging them in my blackberry -

8. "What's wrong with shaking the baby" - Said Katie
7. "What are you doing fingering the punchbowl?" - said Jono
6. "The steelers are losing because Big Ben knows his mom isn't watching him." - said Momo of her A son Ben Rothlisberger
5. "Give the Cyclist wide birth" - said JJ
4. "are you Italian?" says random girls to the schreve to which he responded "do I look f&*%ing Italian?"
3. "Port Union has the nicest trailer park seen all day" - said Momo
2. "If I had the name Warren Zevon I'd be a rockstar" - said Katie - to which jono responded "Katie Jones isn't rockstar enough?"
1. "I only like to get with JJ when he's gay." - said Jono

#41 - The Best of 2009 Movies

All this week I'll be featuring best of lists - which is #41 from my list. Today's topic - Best Movies Seen all 2009. For the record I have seen a lot of good movies but they weren't the best so they didn't make the cut.

7. Up in the Air - As someone you travels all the time not 10 million miles but I think I hit 200K last year - so I relate to this one & who doesn't love the old guy from cincy (it might have made it higher on the list but I didn't love the ending)
6. Two Lovers - An interesting love story - it's kind of "dark" I rather enjoyed the beginning.

5. The Blind Side - I'm not one to love sports movies but I couldn't help but laugh and almost cry at this one.

4. Sunshine Cleaning - The name was slightly misleading but I enjoyed this movie emencely - if you haven't see it you should check it out.
3. Slumdog Millionaire - I know this was released last year but I saw it this year. My indian friends told me it would sour me on going to India but it made me want to go even more.
2. Bright Star - Who doesn't love a period movie & a true story and it was styled so lovely.

1. 500 Days of Summer - Beautiful images, beautiful story, beautiful couple.

#13 - Faster than Janelle

My friend Janelle and I have this constant competition where I like to be faster, louder, smarter and all that jazz than her (okay so it's mostly in jest), she is usually has me beat because I am easier distracted (although I think everyone will say I am louder). So all year long I have been trying to come up with something I can truly be faster than her at - I thought about traveling but I have an unfair advantage that I don't have 3 kids tagging along or preventing me from going. I thought about sewing but let's be real she doesn't do much sewing.
But then it came to me. I blog faster than her see the proof below...

And unless Janelle is going to post like 300 posts in the next two weeks I think I can safely say that I blog faster than her. So I'd like to consider that #13 Complete.
Take that Janelle! ;)

Tuesday 10 - Only 1 More Tuesday Left this Year

Here we are on tuesday again. Everyone seems to have snow this year except us - it's not even that cold here (no complaints just sharing). I am not ready for Christmas in the least bit but did enjoy shopping this weekend.
1. Not having gray roots anymore.
2. Christmas Carols by Bob Dylan - who knew they could be so fun.
3. Doing #33. I did it in the middle of the day which makes it interesting.

4. Christmas cards - I just love mail.
5. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Movie - Perhaps this is where my christmas groove is I usually watch lots of Christmas movies this year I have seen 0!

6. Wheat Thins - These are better than chips. 7. Tongs - Just the other day I was exclaiming how much I love these puppies such a versatile cooking tool.

8. Three days off this week and 2 next - woot woot!

9. Embracing disorder (yes I haven't finished my gifts yet).

10. Slippers - just perfect on a cold night.

Indy Old School Style

I'm sure some of you are sick to death of me sharing old photos of places you haven't been to or maybe you have, but my friend Nick emailed me this link today and I was so exicited about some of the beautiful photos I found I couldn't resist sharing some. Images are part of the Indiana Historical Society Collection, just lovely. Jodie there's even a few from brownsburg. If you want to check out and browse for photos on your own click here.
Check out these bathing beauties - apparently at one time there was a Broad Ripple Beach? Who knew? and now you just run or bike along the river you certainly don't swim in her.
And Riverside park - had bear pits I do believe this stone wall is still standing though, the bears alas have probably died off.
And good old IMS no golf course yet and check out the trees oh and where did the news media sit there was no Pagoda.
This one makes me a little sad - check out the adorable opera house that used to be in the northwest corn of the circle - now it's a sad boring building - I'd rather have opera!
Looks like there was a bus terminal after the opera house and before the banks moved in - other than that this skyline is very much changed now in this direction with the addition of the conrad, circle center, the simon towers and the new stadium.
And I used to live here on the sixth floor - the Ambassador. Not in the 1920's of course but back in the early 2000's now the central library is behind it - I'm so glad they didn't tear it down it was my favorite apartment I ever had.
And Garfield park which looks almost exactly the same today.
