We also went and saw the Air Force Memorial which was void of other people - LOVE LOVE LOVE that - you don't want other people in your photos.  This is a perk to playing  tourist on national holidays.  This is probably however one of the least visited memorials anyhow seeing as people just think it's a weird art sculpture or funky cell tower thing.  Anyhow we enjoyed having the place to ourselves. 

And the view from the memorial of the city is fantastic.  If you have never been to this memorial I highly recommend it because even on regular days there are few people there.   Parking is convenient and it's a hop skip and jump from Pentagon City Mall where you can shop or grab lunch.
