Today I...

  • Woke up very sore from doing crunches
  • Talked the fabulous Jill
  • Wanted to muzzle the neighbors dog (this is a repeating pattern)
  • Backed up & reimaged my client laptop
  • Ate chicken noodle soup
  • Rebooted 4 times because your laptop doesn't like the wifi signal
  • Typed up meeting minutes from last months meetings
  • Wished it was thanksgiving already
  • Had a long conference call and learned about a new "product"
  • Text messaged someone I should not
  • Booked travel for my return to Boston - starting at a new client in December
  • Got very excitied to have a part of my old team back together with me (Hey Tracy)
  • Made some lists
  • Worked a little on the Jones & Co Photo Project
  • Went to the YMCA
  • Listened to some Journey
  • Danced around the kitchen
  • Made chicken noodle casserole
  • Gossiped with the Schreve and Alicia
  • Blogged

Today I did not...
  • Hit the snooze button
  • Muzzle the neighbors dog or kill it
  • Finish my to do list
  • Eat thimbleberry jam
  • Work on Christmas gifts/cards
  • Start any laundry
  • Turn on the TV probably not a surprise there
I love that my did list is longer than my didn't list.

I know it's too early to talk about Christmas.

but when you make all of your presents you need to get an early start on it. And I'm going back on the road in December so I need to get in the groove so yesterday I went to the fabric store & craft store in search of some inspiration and to pick up supplies for the Katie and Jill yearly craft-a-thon, granted we don't even know when we will squeeze this in yet but we must. And I was so let down with the fabric selection someone other than me must have noticed that everything was on sale (although I did get some nice fabrics for a new quilt) - heck even the trip to Christmas Tree Shop didn't help me out. So tonight as I mourn no new mad men I did a little googling to try and find something to jump start me - here are some fun images although I'm still in a funk...

Oh and did I mention I have blogged 22 days in a row!

The Christmas Tree Shop

So I first learned about the Christmas Tree Shop from a lady that works at our corporate headquarters in Boston on a business trip to Charlestown . She loved shopping and offered to take me one evening. She was uber about us going to the Christmas Tree Shop - I of course was mortified as it was March and I really didn't have any desire to have Christmas knick knacks and santa towels but yet here I went with her to the store. And it seems the Christmas Tree Shop was really like a large dollar store with slightly nicer stuff and although they had a large amount of Christmas stuff their primary merchandise wasn't Christmas junk. I have been several times since and can't say I have ever bought anything.
Anyhow fast forward 4 or 5 years to today when I went to the Christmas Tree Shop here in Indy this is a relatively new store in the area - their parking lot was packed so this should have been a sign for me to turn around. My thoughts were that everyong like me thought the store was Christmas Supplies thus the chaos, but I was looking for something in particular and I figured this would be a good place to get it at a decent price so in I went.
Christmas supplies were right at the front of the door and the place was so packed with grandma's and housewives that one could barely navigate though the mess. Once past the chaos I found what I had come for in the 4 pack for about $3 less than target so I was very impressed so I got 6 (sorry I can't tell you what I was buying it's part of my christmas gift making). And I wandered into one of the long lines that were already formed. So I got in a line without even noticing the crazy christmas lady who had a super full cart. Well 30 minutes later christmas lady's total was $641.21 - and can I tell you every single thing she bought was Christmas - rugs, jingle bell napkin rings, place mats, embroidered towels, etc etc. - seriously how much christmas can one person have? I know I have a lot of Christmas stuff but I have no need for $600 more of it. She tried to pay with her discover card which is not accepted and came up declined and they she tried to pay with her mother's discover card - seriously didn't she get it the first time? Anyhow when it didn't work she whips out her cash which easily was around $5K and proceeds to count out 50's and 100's - and I'm wondering why and in the heck is this lady even trying to pay with her credit card.
Kudos to the ladies of the southside for stimulating the economy at the Christmas Tree Shop on a Saturday afternoon.

Things that rocked in the 1980s

We were already hip to being green and were rocking this leftover 1970's sofa. Oh and Barbies Dog was as big as she was - totally cool.
Everyone wore the highest waisted mom jeans and the biggest blues brother's sunglasses.
You said things like "Cowabunga" and "Totally Outrageous" and Bike shorts were a staple in all dressers and of course it went with my tie dye and a fake gold watch. (Paulie's popcorn must be heavenly).
You rocked the baddest blue tennis shoes ever seen...
even in your sunday best. (sorry roos these are kickin')
Baby seats seemed to be minus any safety restraints (I'm sure I'm planning an escape route here of course I can't hold my fat little head up yet).
Don't you love the 1980's?

It's wrong that I love this...

Perhaps there's a tiny bit of me that is still a graphic designer, because I love this and I love me some fonts. I had every intent to share some awesomeness in today's post but I got caught up in watching Project Runway finales - I hate that Irena won boo hiss.

Discussions

Jono and I often discuss my blog - I'm not sure why really but we do. We often discuss how we might get exactly 29034 people to read it, or he comments on how he would also like large squirrels to eat the neighbors dogs. He encourages me to post when I just don't feel like it. He also is always telling people to read it - he's my #1 salesmen (of course I don't sell anything but rather give away photos and ramblings of adventures). I know he shares the link with more people that I do which is swell - shout out to all the ladies at Stanley, or Jono's facebook friends - wurd (I think that's slang for hey). Today he sent me a note from a friend of his that reads it and the note made me happy that I have continued blogging (hello kelly you are too sweet).
And so it's for these reasons that I would like to present ...

Are you planning to letterpress in your living room?" at the time she was right but now that my studio is larger I have room and I wish I had bought it. Someday

Found

I was sharing Frank Synder's photo collection with mom this weekend and we found this lovely 1950 commencement photo taken at withrow court. My eye was immediately drawn to this fellow in a light colored suit in the back row.

And when you zoom in we discovered that it is probably very much so my great grandfather howard white (the one in the glasses). Thea/Grandpa/Jay - What do you think? How cool is that?

Shrumness!

Spent most of the day with three of my favorite girlies the Shrum girls. We did a little shopping, had a little lunch and then volunteered for the Colts Game with Kim's work. Kim we need more days like this - now that Roger has his deer for the year - I say even drag him along and he'll entertain the girlies. And a few snaps - I only took a few I really do hate my little camera.
Sammie tried out the slide.
Our names on Oak Farms blue cow - you may remember when we took a K&K roadtrip to Oak Farms.
One of the girls all coltsified I did not partake in these activities as I'm an Bengals Fa
