May update

Here it is May.  Spring is full on here it’s either rainy or warm or crisp and cool.  The blooms and tulips have came and went.  The kids and I weeded and hauled almost 40 bags of mulch and about half that in soil as well we planted Ohio wildflowers, zuchini, squash, lettuce, watermelon, corn.

The spring ice show happened my kids loved it.  They are skating so much better and it was fun to see them make friends with the other kids.  Soccer started although only jones is playing Thea herself is busy making a sisters club on the sideline.  School is also wrapping up for the year and this year I procrastinated summer camps so we have limited options but most weeks we have plans.

And life in a pandemic seems to be getting much more routine like.  All the adults in our house have vaccines and most of our friends parents too.   We take masks everywhere.  I also have Lysol wipes and sanitizer.  We still try and do outside activities when possible.  This seems normalized.

Oh and Uncle JJ came to visit (Kathleen too). That was a fun surprise and we did small adventures and had a really good weekend with him. It was so fun to have house guests in our new larger house.

I have been working slowly on some quilting projects, a new spring art project, and my hexies are move along slowly too.
We are looking forward to our family vacation in June and finishing out the school year.

Easter

Easter this year was not perfect or ideal.  We did church online, we didn’t invite anyone over, we had meltdowns.  I didn’t make bread or pie because of other priorities and fits.

But we really do have so many things to be thankful for and need to keep be pointed back to god in this time.  He will ease our fears and anxiety. I must say it’s been helpful for me to do a short devotional before prayer time in the morning and then at bed most nights.

Photo above shoes one of the dioramas we made of Jesus’s tomb I love how they turned out.

Tee-ball

Tee-ball is also happening here in the Midwest.  Jones is on the Reds team and he is loving it.  I think his biggest complaint has been that the ball doesnt always come to him as when we play in the yard.
It’s so fun to watch the toddlers playing and learning the game.  Usually 4-8 kids go after the ball, nobody is even on first when the ball is thrown there,  the kids often run to third or to the pitcher mound, they carry their bats with them.  Such a good time to watch.
Jones’s uniform is easily 3x too big and we have to wear a belt to keep his pants up.

They also had a big opening day celebration at the community park with Ice cream and bounce houses and a band and little parade.  It was a huge hit with the kids.

I look forward to seeing more progress as the season goes on.  The kids are already hitting better.

Bitty Bits of Spring

Bits of spring.
Spring is popping up ever so slowly it’s like 29 outside right now.  But we have had a few movement recently where it was warmer and we could get outside.
I am currently thinking out about our garden, and if I want to make the kids another clubhouse.

Tuesday 10 - This Weeks Loves

1. Babies in Shorts
2. Homemade nachos for dinner

3. Our little garden - this year I planted less tomatoes and more strawberries, kale and zucchini.  I already had some cilantro and pumpkins coming in so I left them.  We also planted marigolds.

4. The 100 Day Project - I am drawing cartoon faces (ps this is soooo challenging).

5. Face Coasters - I bought these for kathleen for her birthday they were super perfect and so fun!
6. My People - this past week my people brought me a machine to borrow while mine is down, fabric for my hexies, called me when I needed a call, inspired me, met me for a trip to target, brought dinner and just generally showed up.  sometimes it's the little moments.

7. Getting Outdoors - I think I have mentioned before I am not really a big outdoorsy person I like a park in the city or a short hike at a national park.  This weekend we took the kids out into the woods by Dustin's childhood home.  There was no trail, no real destination and it was still nice.  I found a single mushroom, jones collected a bag of leaves and Thea got upset and couldn't walk thru the weeds.  But I didn't hate it - yay.

8. Watermelon - this has been a go to treat for us this last week as I bought a big one which is a lot.
9. A good clean sink ( I washed all the pans and bleached the sink).  So fresh so clean.
10. Talking about bible stories with Jones.  I will have to post his story about Jesus and the fruit snacks in another post.

Easter surprise

Uncle Jay surprised us for Easter coming to visit and meet baby Thea.  We did lots of fun things while he was here.
Friday we went to lunch and picked Jonesy up from school early.  He showed Uncle Jay all his tricks - basketball and reading books and playdoh etc. it was a good surprise.  Ps jones say Jay as Dee sometimes Day mostly Dee.
Saturday we went on an Easter Egg Hunt at the same farm we get our Christmas Tree.  They have a playground and little petting zoo and an Easter bunny too.  It was good fun.  Jones and Thea both wanted nothing to do with the bunny.
Jones didn't understand the egg hunt and then was scared after one of the baby pine trees got him in the face.  We ended up moving eggs out of tall grasses so he could grab eggs easier.
He was not scared a bit of feeding the goats and pigs though.  He loved it.
We also liked that Easter candy was not in the eggs but tickets and prizes this made it more manageable.  As a reminder that we should bring baskets in the future.
After a nap and some lunch we went into the city for the fountain square music festival.  Worried about Thea and the loud music inside we just enjoyed the show outside.  But it was still fun we did some dancing, people watching, and chalk drawing.  And jones dance moves were amazing.
On Sunday we opened Easter baskets, went to church then had a picnic before a nap and then going to joes for supper. My kids also were not fans of the ears I got them although jones tolerated it for pictures.
It was a great Easter surprise.
