27 - someplace new

Technically I have been to Pittsburgh before, but honestly I remembered like nothing.  So I am considering this “new”.
I took the kids on a trip just by myself.  Pittsburgh is not terribly far from us and actually the drive is very much like 1/2 the drive to DC.
Each day we each picked things we wanted to do (from a list/or within reason), and we did that.  There were a few snafus like that “bicycle heaven” was more than a few minutes away, we got twisted around driving, and showed up to a historical site that was closed.
But otherwise everyone got to have a little of the things they like and we had many fun adventures.

One surprising thing that happened twice was screenprinting.  Warhol is from Pittsburgh and apparently we kept going places where randomly screen printing workshops were happening and we got to try it. My kids both enjoyed it and recommended we get our own speedball paint, pizza oven and screen.

1200 miles - June Update

In June I bought myself a new Apple Watch.  So the last few days of June which were crazy busy I did start resuming my 1,200 miles goal.  In June I logged a measley 25.9 miles.  Not impressive in the least bit but considering it was just 7 days of tracking that’s reasonable.
This takes me to the grand total of 511.2 miles for the year.  Onward and upward towards this goal.
(Photo unrelated but from our Kings Island trip in June).

15 Visit JJ and Rob

Do you remember back to May?
Ya me neither.  Lol
The last few months have Just zoomed past we have been so busy with camps, and friends and trips and fun!
But waaaay back in May we took a short trip to DC to see uncle JJ graduate from GWU.  It was a fun adventure.
While there we got to go to a new Smithsonian exhibit, the hirshorn and visit several cookie destinations.  Oh and we got to see auntie Kelly, uncle Andrew and Auntie Sarah too.  Delightful adventures were had it was the perfect short trip.

45 - The Wilds

Thea is a big fan of secrets of the zoo.  Part of it features the the wilds which is in Ohio.  This summer is the summer of our “short” trips and so when I decided to take my kids to Pittsburgh I saw that the wilds was like of on the way.   So we made it happen.  You can use the zoo reciprocal benefit for 1/2 price tickets which makes them reasonable.  The conservation park is the largest one in North America and it’s really very large.  We enjoyed it and out your guard was great.  Also to Thea’s delight she saw several animals from Secret of the Zoo as well as Kurt one of the zookeepers did from the show.
