Orchard

One of my most favorite things to do in the fall is go to the orchard and pick apples.  I love these apples they are so much fresher and seem to have more flavor.
This last weekend was Macintosh weekend and so off we went to pick.  It was perfect time there were loads of apples on the tree many still in my kids reach although they did enjoy using the grabber tool.   They ate probably as many as we picked in the orchard but still they couldn’t wait for me to make apple crisp.  We also enjoyed their mini “petting zoo” although we prefer the other orchard with a larger one.
I got it made last night and I probably will make it three more times before we run out of apples.  Yum.

Phew

I have been very absent on my blog for several years occasionally popping in to update on my list.  but I feel like I should document this moment.  This election season has been so anxiety ridden.  After RBG died I called my senators 3 times, I donated money I probably should have saved for a car, I wrote letters and I felt anxious.  I am generally not anxious.  Our current president though is just so awful and hateful.  I truly believe he only cares for himself.
We voted early in person here in Ohio and on Election Day we went shopping and to the park and raked leaves.  Later we watched the incoming returns talk about additional anxiety I had trouble sleeping all last week. I am truly sad all these people find trump an appropriate choice I just don’t get it.  Anyhow suffice to say when the news came out Saturday I was so relieved and excited.

I also feel so delighted we will have a women Vice President.  I cannot believe we haven’t had one until now.  The works not done yet but I feel very good about Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s upcoming presidency.

Fall 2020

Fall is upon us now.  It’s gorgeous here the leaves are changing and the weather is soooo nice.  Photo above from 9 years ago at the pumpkin patch and one from 2020.
Things are so much different now with kids, then when we got those pumpkins 9 years ago.  For example despite getting 8 pumpkins at the patch and carving 4 between the kids and I nobody actually let me pick what to carve.  We run thru the corn mazes, and pick sunflowers for the volume of seeds not the actual beauty of them.  (My kids want to plant a bazillion sunflowers next year).

I made a pumpkin tree.  All the plastic pumpkins were purchased at a thrift store and I drilled holes in the bottom to let rain water out. I would like to get a few more because 15 seems better than the 9 we have.

We are super into Halloween decor and have added to our collection of things this year.  Thanks to the dollar store for cheap pumpkins, skeletons and skulls.

47 Fall Bucket List

We missed the summer bucket list we did have a quarantine one but I never took a photo of it.  This is our fall bucket list to replace the summer one I never did.  We’ve already done a bunch more since I took this photo like camp fire, Halloween movie, bike ride And more Halloween decor.  Lots of fun things happening.
Bike ride - on the new trail by our house it’s super nice and we can’t wait to try it again

We loved the orchard.

We’ve had amazing weather it’s like 70s in the day and 50s in the evening perfect for camp fires.  (Let’s pretend I weeded the fire pit).

We did a Halloween craft kit thing.  thea loves to pretend with this little set.

We got new Halloween decor. thea has taken three of the skeletons as her “babies”.

Fall Will be fun.

November Snow

It snowed the other night.  And it stuck a bit.
My kids were so excited they asked if there was a snow day?
But alas not even a delay!
But since regularly everyone is up before the sunrise about 6, there was plenty of time for snow play before school.  They even came in and switched pants since I need snow pants for both kids that fit!
They both wished for more snow to build snow forts with the neighbors and make a snowball fight. I think they are flashing back to last year when the neighbors used their shoveled snow to make LARGE snow forts and my kids invaded and helped them enjoy. Sadly the snow didn’t pack well and it wasn’t enough for a fort.
But we enjoyed the snow that we did have and then we kicked all the icicles from mommy’s car and came in for cocoa before school.

Tuesday 10 - Fall

I felt the need to make a good old Tuesday 10 today.  10 things I am loving right now.
1. Neighborhood football games.  The other day we had kids of all ages playing from high school to three year olds & Lita and I too.

2. Art for Kids Hub YouTube Videos that show kids how to draw things.  Amazing!

3. I mean check out Jones’s haunted house and sugar skulls??

4. Pumpkins everywhere. We have 9!

5. The end of soccer.  This season has been challenging - Thea has been struggling with following the game, so that was an extra struggle.

6. My rothys.  Perfect for fall 50-70 degree days and I don’t need to bother finding socks or tying my tennis shoes.

7. Jones knows how to pump when swinging!  This makes my day.

8. soup.  File this under all I want to eat.
9. When my kids play independently!

10. halloween costumes!!!  They are now done photos soon of that but it makes room for me to resume quilt projects.  I am so excited to finish a few projects.
