Easter

Easter this year was not perfect or ideal.  We did church online, we didn’t invite anyone over, we had meltdowns.  I didn’t make bread or pie because of other priorities and fits.  

But we really do have so many things to be thankful for and need to keep be pointed back to god in this time.  He will ease our fears and anxiety. I must say it’s been helpful for me to do a short devotional before prayer time in the morning and then at bed most nights.

Thanksgiving

For thanksgiving we invited over people who had families in other cities.  I cooked the meal with help from my kids and lita.  It was fun to prepare.  Everyone had fun and enjoyed the meal.  I just wish we had a bigger house to invite more people.  

Now can anyone tell me why stuffing is only a good made like two times per year??? It’s sooo good?? 

Halloween 2019

And just like that halloween is over.  Jones ghost costume I made did get worn but only last night for trick or treating and while it was all that he wanted it was terrible weather for a ghost costume that catches all the wind.  Lol.  

Road trip to DC

Over thanksgiving we went to DC.  It was a short trip but my kids were excited for JJs house and the metro and Legostore.  All good things.  The trip was mostly good.  There was a big fit under the table at the mall but luckily it was so noisy nobody noticed really aside from us.  

We had a lovely time with our cousins for thanksgiving and caught a little sightseeing too.  Here’s just a few photos as for some reason I can’t download from my cloud.  

Christmas in 5 minutes

I didn't want to just jump over Christmas.  This Christmas season was so fun for Jones. He was excited for Santa, he loved the story of baby Jesus's birthday, he enjoyed the crafting and tree, and decor.  He wished Christmas kept going on forever.  Thea was also equally into it although I think because she was watching Jones.  Even a month later he asks me questions about Christmas, sings jingle bells, and he asked if it was Jesus's birthday at church this week.  

It's a good reminder of the magic and joy of the Christmas season.  And I hope we can inject a little of that from time to time throughout the year.  

Here's a list of things remembered from the season:

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving we wanted to be home and so we invited both families to our house.  Dustin's family couldn't join us but part of mine did and we also had a few exchange students, which was fun.  

Jones helped me with the turkey.  He was more than willing to stuff it full of onions and oranges. He also helped baste it with butter.  Mom helped make a few dishes which was perfect, since I have two small babies.  Lita brought rolls and our new student friends brought dumplings. 

Everything was so good.  We enjoyed the meal.  Thea ate her first turkey and probably enjoyed sweet Potatoes the most.  Our friends have never eaten anything we prepared, and they enjoyed potatoes and sweet potato casserole the best. 

We cleaned up and ate pie. They also liked pie. 

Afterward we played Yahtzee and talked.  So fun.  

Our guests really enjoyed my kids since they don't have many babies in their family.  

It was a lovely thanksgiving. 

 

43 - Thea's Stocking

I feel uber behind on blogging and my list, but yesterday I had a free hour and I finished up Theas stocking.  

I tried to use scrap felt I had.  I just made up the pattern.   The penguin was super simple.  I wish however I had made it fatter for her.  Oh well it's done before Christmas. 

Easter surprise

Uncle Jay surprised us for Easter coming to visit and meet baby Thea.  We did lots of fun things while he was here.  

Friday we went to lunch and picked Jonesy up from school early.  He showed Uncle Jay all his tricks - basketball and reading books and playdoh etc. it was a good surprise.  Ps jones say Jay as Dee sometimes Day mostly Dee.  

Saturday we went on an Easter Egg Hunt at the same farm we get our Christmas Tree.  They have a playground and little petting zoo and an Easter bunny too.  It was good fun.  Jones and Thea both wanted nothing to do with the bunny. 

Jones didn't understand the egg hunt and then was scared after one of the baby pine trees got him in the face.  We ended up moving eggs out of tall grasses so he could grab eggs easier. 

He was not scared a bit of feeding the goats and pigs though.  He loved it. 

We also liked that Easter candy was not in the eggs but tickets and prizes this made it more manageable.  As a reminder that we should bring baskets in the future. 

After a nap and some lunch we went into the city for the fountain square music festival.  Worried about Thea and the loud music inside we just enjoyed the show outside.  But it was still fun we did some dancing, people watching, and chalk drawing.  And jones dance moves were amazing. 

On Sunday we opened Easter baskets, went to church then had a picnic before a nap and then going to joes for supper. My kids also were not fans of the ears I got them although jones tolerated it for pictures. 

It was a great Easter surprise.
