Do you remember back to May?
Ya me neither.  Lol
The last few months have Just zoomed past we have been so busy with camps, and friends and trips and fun!
But waaaay back in May we took a short trip to DC to see uncle JJ graduate from GWU.  It was a fun adventure.
While there we got to go to a new Smithsonian exhibit, the hirshorn and visit several cookie destinations.  Oh and we got to see auntie Kelly, uncle Andrew and Auntie Sarah too.  Delightful adventures were had it was the perfect short trip.

Road trip to DC

Over thanksgiving we went to DC.  It was a short trip but my kids were excited for JJs house and the metro and Legostore.  All good things.  The trip was mostly good.  There was a big fit under the table at the mall but luckily it was so noisy nobody noticed really aside from us.
We had a lovely time with our cousins for thanksgiving and caught a little sightseeing too.  Here’s just a few photos as for some reason I can’t download from my cloud.

4 - visit JJ

We visited JJ over thanksgiving.  It was a quick trip but we had a fun time visiting with him as well as our other family in DC.  Highlights for Jones were playing with JJs fancy LEGO sets and riding the subway.  Thea enjoyed all the live music by our cousins and pie.  Added bonus we also hit the zoo so I can cross off 27 on my list too.
Here are a few of the many photos I took.

#babyburf goes to washington

Seriously is this not the most adorable kid you have seem next to the Washington monument?  Okay so I am biased.  But he's pretty cute.  We took jones to see some of our favorite monuments while in DC.  We know how much he'll remember it.  We were joined by these crazy cats our old friends Dan and Megan.
Babies in the bread line.  Note we have no clue who this baby is and his parents didn't speak English but they agreed to line the babies up.
MLK
And my personal favorite.  Jones screaming at Lincoln
About two seconds later he passed out.  And slept the rest of our tour. But we bought his a book about DC and I am sure he will be back no fewer than 10 times before he's 5.

Mini Family Vacation - Washington DC

Family vacation will not be officially until later in the year but in order to tide us over this summer we needed a mini!  So when Jono's ball team was invited to Gettysburg we took the opportunity to get some family vacation time in.
True to Jones and Co Family Vacations things didn't go as planned (although it wasn't quite a hot mess like last year).  It all started with picking up the van to discover no vans were to be had, so we got a "van" aka an SUV with a third row which I thought was the best option. Turns out that worked out splendidly except for luggage space - which was critical because we spent 20+ hours of this trip in the car.   We got up early and set off for our favorite destination Washington DC.   This is a reoccurring theme on Jones and Co trips but we needed to get JJ and FCH.  Well that didn't work out either as FCH had ulcers and stepped into a manhole cover - so they spent their time at the hospital :o(.  But we did some sight-seeing anyhow since Lo and Dust have never been to DC.  Nothing like some Wash Mon, Lincoln, Einstein, and War Memorials to make a 10 hour car ride better.   Then we toured the rest of the city in the "van" and picked JJ and FCH up from the hospital chauffeured them around then then went to dinner with some family.

9/11 in DC

For the 10th anniversary of 9/11 we wanted to be patriotic. What's more patriotic than memorials in DC??   Well Hot Dogs & Apple Pie but we only had memorials in DC.  So off we went to see some favorites as well as the new MLK.  It was my personal quest only to take photos of FCH and I think I pretty much did it I'm not sure you can tell that JJ, Rachel and I were on this trip.
This is Jefferson from the Tidal Basin where the Cherry Blossoms grow.
This was a happy accident photo.  But it kind of reminds me of the twin towers.
Wash Mon - Which I think I took 9000 photos of as always.
Stars at the WWII would you believe FCH had never been there.  The shame.
The sky perfectly blue like always in DC.
We couldn't get this framed up right but I couldn't resist sharing some of our horrible attempts.
Oh look Rachel and JJ were there.
And so was FCH

Here's a shot of MLK I took a bunch of the memorial on the other camera.
I don't know why but I love this picture.  FCH was standing on a wall and people thought he was going to commit suicide.  LOL the things we will do for photo ops.
More of the Jefferson - always a favorite.

And Wash Mon from another POV.
