See you in 2007!

We're off to Iowa for a few days. I'm not sure I'll be able to post from there so I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Jen McWhirt if you see this check your email.

I didn't clean the craft room...

But I did spend some more time messing it up last night. Here's a few pages I accomplished.

Page about the really cool bookstore (the Book Loft) we visited this summer. It was a maze of books. Room after room you almost get lost. If you are ever in Columbus, Ohio you should check it out.

I thought this photo was super fun it's a photo of our car in the tire of a semi.

Tuesday 10 - 10 Things I got for Christmas

Hope everyone had a very merry christmas. Jay and I sure did. So here's today's Tuesday 10 which is about Christmas.

  1. Yarn and knitting needles from G&G - What fun. I can't wait to make something. I ordered a few knitting books from the library so I can try a new knitting stitch.
  2. Hobby Lobby Gift Card from Joe - I was shocked it wasn't from Walmart since that's where Joe is working these days but never mind that as I like Hobby Lobby Better.
  3. A whole bunch of scrapping loot from Debbie, Lorianne and Betsy including an Archivers Gift Card - Thanks Debbie.
  4. New silverware from Lita - I really really needed forks I think the dishwasher has been eating them - Lita must have known.
  5. Some new VHS tapes from Jay. I've been taping over on the same two for like 3 years they've seen better days.
  6. Several conversations with my dad.
  7. The coolest slipper shoes from my mom. They are great.
  8. New brakes for the car from Jay's Dad - Isn't that a great gift. My favorite kind practical and sensible.
  9. The funnest Christmas Ornament from Lynley - she made it. I think I rubbed off on her as she was doing semi-homemade Christmas this year.
  10. Snow - Santa must have gotten my letter. Too bad it melted away so quick.
Sorry if I didn't mention your gift as I loved them all but the list stops at 10.

And here's two more of the tags. I need to finish the other one but I'm procrastinating a bit and working on thank you cards.

A mini christmas photo shoot

Jay and I were out and about this after and somehow I talked him into going to the park at the elementary school for a little mini Christmas photo shoot. Too bad it's such a gloomy day out there today. Here's some of the photos we took.

Lookie here we are with an evergreen tree so christmasy.
Jay and a brick wall. I love this angle and the wall.
This photo was actually a mistake but I like it. The wind knocked the camera over and I was coming over to get it straighten out and it took a shot of me.

Jay did not want to go down the slide probably because his hat didn't fit... but he did sit at the bottom.
last but not least Katie the red nosed reindeer coming down the slide.

Well I guess I need to get back to finishing off these gifts and start on the wrapping I'm very close to finishing only 5 more gifts left to complete if I don't count Jay's.

12.21.2006

6, 5, 4,

days before Christmas. I'm so behind making gifts it's not funny however I did mail those I was mailing on Tuesday, and I had almost everything ready for my friends I've seen in the last few days, and I took a break to knock out a few tags.

6 Days - went out to lunch on work. We got steak. Yummy. I put the camera on the back of someone's car to take this photo. Please note we are even wearing work gear I have my hoodie on and Jill's sporting her fleece. Thanks for this yummy ribbon Jen I love it!
5 Days - I also had lunch with Kelly and Sara and dinner with Lynley and yet I only took this one photo of the nativity on the circle on my way home from supper. Clearly I was having too much fun, or too busy making lists of do's in my head.4 Days - This photo cracks me up. Lorianne looks scared, Debbie's toasting the camera, little Nick is checking out my hat or something. Hehe too funny.
Well enough of a break I really should get back to making some holiday gifts as the big date is rapidly approaching, and there's so little time left.

12.18.2006

8 & 7

Days Before Christmas. No Cookie Party Photos I used one I took of my drum tins. And Below is Santa on a Harley. Isn't that the funnest? Only a week until the Holiday. I'm so behind on everything it isn't funny but I did make these tags tonight.

12.17.2006

9 Days...

Okay so I know it's really almost 7 days now. But I'm a bit behind doing these. And I'd post today's too but I didn't take any photos at the cookie party Kim took them all silly me. So I guess I'll do that one tomorrow.

Here's the tag from Saturday though. Jay and I went up to a little mini party at his friends house (no photos whoops) and then we hit the Light Display at Reynolds Farm (surprisingly it didn't take ANY prying for him to want to go to the light display no complaints here.)

Back to work tomorrow - UGH! Luckily I just have a few days of work before more vacation time.

12.16.2006

10 Days...

Before Christmas and we're baking cookies like mad. Jay and I made tons of cookies yesterday some for Kim's holiday cookie party and some for our friends. We only hit one little snag in that my tins are too small for my cookies so I have to go out and find something else to put them in today, hopefully I can still use my same vision with just a different container.

Other than that I'm not sure what's on the agenda today perhaps a holiday movie or a trip to the holiday tractor supply light display.

12.15.2006

11 Days Before Christmas

11 Days Before Christmas my true love - Jay and I went downtown last walked around and saw the Christmas Lights. I so need to learn to use my camera at night only a handful of the photos came out okay.

Today I start baking Christmas Cookies! What fun that will be.

12.14.2006

12 Days Before Christmas

My First Tag. I'm doing them a little different than Mellie as I plan to put all 12 together into 2 12x12 pages.

Can I please get some snow for Christmas? It's finally starting to feel like winter outside and I'd like to get some snow to complete the package? And it will make for some real pretty pictures.

I promise I've been Nice!

Katie

Happy Birthday Mom!

First and foremost I wanna wish my mom a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Love ya mom.
I spent most of the day napping as I stayed up until 4 am last night watching bad tv with Jay and knitting (okay so I probably have a little touch of OCD) . I'm making an afgan. I need more yarn so I can finish it up. Check out what I did...
After all that sleep I drug out the stuff for my Christmas tree even though I'm not really in the Christmas mood yet and I put it up. I decided that I wasn't really going to do a real theme this year so it's kind of a "white trash tree" as my topper won't stand up straight I'm a tad worried these big bulbs are going to burn down the house and I didn't put very many ordaments or tinsel on it. Isn't it fabulous...

11.25.2006

Check out Jay...

This is Jay over 10 years ago. Don't he look so young? I did a 7 pages in the last 2 days click here to see the rest. I love this photo of him, of course I don't have many photos of him prior to when we got together so I'm sure that's part of it.

11.24.2006

Happy Black Friday!

Did you all go shopping? I'm not one for Christmas shopping since I make all my presents but my friend talked me into going to Joanns with her today and I picked up a Nifty Knitter. So now I can attempt to learn to knit before I'm 30 - I can't wait to try it out! After hitting our one store we went to archivers and scrapped. I got 4 pages complete. I'll have to post them later first I'm off to knit.

11.23.2006

Thankful for So Many Things....

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Here's a list of other "little" things I am thankful for...

  1. Warmer Weather I haven't had to find those winter work shoes yes, and if I wear my flip flops I know that my toes won't get frostbite.
  2. That the OC is finally back on the air oh this is a big high point in my week as sad as it is.
  3. I'm thankful that Kim and her girls took me to see some corncrete.
  4. That the mailman brought me fun mail in the form of my Scrapbook etc magazine from Oct??? (still not sure where that was).
  5. That Trident decided to make a gum I like again even if it is more expensive and harder to find.
  6. That my friend Jill isn't getting laid off this Christmas season, as we had originally thought.
  7. Speeding tickets as now my house is cleaner.
  8. My Camera Timer this is a source of amusement that I can use for hours.
  9. New Scrapbook books that are straight from Ebay via my friend Jeanne I.
  10. And of course I'm always thankful for the bigger things - Jay, a great family, good health, my job, my friends, my house, being american.

11.22.2006

More Photos!

Finally I got all the photos from this weekend uploaded. Click here to view the whole collection all 132 of them! Yes that's right 132.

I can't claim them all as Syd, Sam, and Lilly too a few.

Today was a blah busy monday. I can't wait for the long weekend! Wehoo!

11.19.2006

FABULOUSLY CORNCRETE

Well I'm still uploading all the photos I took at Corncrete with the "girls" but I could resist sharing a few shots before they are all uploaded.

This first picture I took with the timer by hanging my camera from a tree it's it super cool??

11.18.2006

I'm Home!

I finally did make it home Thursday night just in time for the OC how great is that. With only a slight snafu where they put me on the wrong plane first and I almost ended up in Bangor Maine I'm actually a little sad that I didn't make it there as I've never been to Maine and that could have been an adventure.

Today I'm off on another adventure with Kim and her girls. We are going to Columbus Ohio to see an oversized field of corn and our friends Jen and Erin and Jen's daughter Lily and perhaps her husband too. It should be a fun time. I will share photo of our adventure when we are back tonight I'm uploading charing my camera's battery right now so I'm all set to go.

11.16.2006

Hello from Logan Airport!

Here I am again sitting at an airport. This time I'm stuck at Logan my first flight cancelled after being delayed several times. And now I'm waiting for my second flight I'm debating whether or not to make the move and go into the city for shopping and some fun. But I'd have to haul around my laptop and that doesn't sound that appealing. But if Tracy doesn't get on her standby flight we are going to bite the bullet and do it.

I had a fabulously fun night last night. went barhopping with coworkers got to meet a few virtual coworkers too, so that's always good. Several things to note about bars in boston -
  • There's a no taking your drink outside onto the patio rule.
  • No shots allowed after celtics games because we might be fighting.
  • Boston Beerworks only serves beer and wine no hard liquor.
  • And because there's no alleys behind the buildings (at least I imagine this is the logic) the bars just pile up the trash on the streets. it's kind of gross all the mounds of trash by the road. - ah big city life

Well I guess I better check some emails before my batteries die.

11.14.2006

Tuesday 10 - 10 Things I want to Do Before I'm 30

Please note this list doesn't mean that 30 is old by any means it's just a list of goals I have to do before I turn 30.

Tuesday 10 - 10 things I want to do before I'm 30.
  1. Travel Across the Country in an RV I want to go all along - Not done but I did go to several new states.
  2. Learn to Knit - DONE
  3. Go scuba diving
  4. Visit at least 5 zoo's I've not been too - I think I only crossed off two Milwalkee, and Boston
  5. Learn to to speak another language at least semi fluently - I can say like two new phrases
  6. Have a layout/scrapbook project published - Nope
  7. Read and Enjoy reading 10 good books (this will probably be a hard one as silly as it sounds). - Well I think I read 10 but whether they were good or not is debatable.
  8. Take a photography class so I can take better pictures - NOPE
  9. Make a difference (this is still a "Idea in progress") - You tell me?  I would like to say I have made a difference in the lives of my family and friends.
  10. Travel to Europe - YES - England, Ireland, and Wales - there is so much more to see too.
Updated 1/21/2011 to reflect the status.

    11.13.2006

this is how they say welcome in boston...

the funny thing is it was it was the cutest couple from Beligum that gave me the beer. They too had were delayed getting in several hours and thought I could use a little welcome to Boston celebration. Well I better iron up my clothes if I'm going to be presentable tomorrow for our meeting.

    Greetings from an Indianapolis Airport!

Seems yet again I can't seem to get out on time. Damn this US Airways. We are waiting on crew members who seem to be MIA the planes been here since 4:30 but it seems it didn't actually come with a crew or something. Here's to hoping I do get to Boston tonight, as I'm so looking forward to our training sessions tomorrow.

    11.11.2006

Stamp Goodness Ali E's ezine Challenge!

Here's "Stamp Goodness Challenge" at first I was not liking it so much. But it's grown on me. I think next time I will go with simpler stamps. Best of all I used this crowd stamp I got several years ago and I hadn't used yet.

    11.09.2006

    OC Tonight!

OC's on tonight! Don't forget to watch! Yes I know I missed it last night because I thought two hour event meant two episodes back to back and it apparently meant 2 1 hour events. But I can't wait. This is will be the high point of my day.

    11.08.2006

    The 60's

Of course we all know I didn't live in the 60's, but my mom did. Today I started scanning this big stack of photos she gave me to scan and I thought I would blog a few.
Photo 1: My Aunt Thea Who's getting ready to pick some kind of berries. How cute is that I love her little outfit that I'm guessing Grandma made her. Photo 2: Aunt Rachel and Uncle Stuart Playing in the sand. I love how time as aged this photo and faded it in different places. Seems like a dream.

Photo 3: G&G sunning. Grandma doesn't want weird tan lines so she's taken off her straps. I can't help but to wonder if there's coffee in that thermos. Seems like the beach is a silly place for coffee? Again time has aged this photo as well but I think it gives it character.
Photo 4: Last but not least. Here's my mom shoveling snow in a short skirt. How practical does that seem now. I do love the boots and look on her face. It's a bummer that piece of tape is stuck to the photo though.

You win some and you lose some...

Jay's dad lost the election. It was pretty close 57% to 43% I think (in that district that's like several hundred votes). But I'm sure Dale will find some other venture. But I can't help feeling bad for him. Too sad.

On the bright side of things today. I have the day off and I have already run all my errands so I can do absolutely nothing if I want and I think I want!

    11.07.2006

Tuesday 10 - 10 Stupid Things Kim Shrum Did Today!

Well Kim Shrum this ones for you honey. We all do dumb things but today you can take the cake and go ahead and eat it later too.
    1. Kim ignored Roger's (her husbands) traffic advice this morning...which resulted in sitting in traffic for an hour.
    2. She didn't stop for gas this morning on her way to work and watched the gas light come on right as traffic came to a screeching hault.
    3. Left her laptop on her desk at home - Doesn't really help get the work done.
    4. She left an important conference room list on at the office.
    5. Kim forgot to make a setup drawing to leave for her crew.
    6. She burned her mouth on HOT coffee (and it did say right on the side of the cup that it was VERY hot!)
    7. She dropped a 12-pack of Pepsi on a co-workers foot in the middle of K-mart!
    8. On the way back home she sat in traffic for 45 minutes because she was talking on the phone and missed the traffic report on the radio (she was on her way home so she could log on to her computer and work today!)
    9. Well I don't have a #9 for this list but please feel free to insert #9 at your leisure as I'm sure it will happen to Kim _________.
    10. Probably the single dumbest thing she did all day was get out of bed because if she had stayed there she could have avoided all this nonsense.

Love ya Kim. Here's to hoping Wednesday is better.

    VOTE!

Just wanted to give a shout out to Jay's Dad who's running for the Indiana State Representative District 55. Good Luck Dale!

    We Love you!

    11.06.2006

    Funness Mail!

Look what came in the mail from Janelle today. It's a little thank you for scrapping those pages for Nicholas. A1 Sauce, Twizzlers and Travel Stuff - Boy does she know me well. And I so needed those additional baby food jars now I have one in every color. THANKS JANELLE! You Rawk!

    11.03.2006

    Holy Sweetness!

That's my new phrase don't you love it. I'm so glad the OC is back I missed it and what a fun twist last night too. Ryan being all not good anymore. So much drama - holy sweetness!

Well off to enjoy some of my nothingness that I'm doing tonight I should be picking up or maybe packing a bag to take to mom's but I don't feel so much like it. I'll do it in the morning.

    11.02.2006

Did I mention the OC is Back today????

I can't believe I haven't blogged about this. I think everyone I've seend in the last two week's knows I can't wait to have some good trashy TV to watch. I can't wait to see what happens this season. I can't wait! Yay for the World Series Being OVER!

    Other goodness. Check this out!

    10. Elvis - My best friend at the time was Marilyn Monroe I tried to find photos but I couldn't locate them.
Here's a few photos of past costumes. Funny thing is they all were taken at the Stouslands who were almost like fake grandparents to us because they lived so close. It's too sad - Betty and Mik are gone now. But for anyone interested Mik's son Chris still makes some of Mik's designs out of silver one of a kind pieces - here's the website http://stousland.com/2ndpg.htm

    Big Brothers Rawk!

Well I was thinking about JJ today (while making fried rice) so it only seemed fitting that I scrapped some photos of him. So I dug out these timer pics we took in dowtown Indianapolis, when he was home in August. Love ya JJ!

    Super Fabulous Fall Day!

Got up early and went to my friend Jill's house for an uber fabulous Christmas Present making event. I didnt' get all that much down but I have two presents complete (betcha wish you knew what they were). Our Friends Rob and Katie came and brought their super sweet baby Maci with them - she and I painted together unforunately I didn't get my camera out however they took a few shots. Thanks to Jill for the sprinkle cookies and for making me some good hamburgers with lots of pickles (yummy).

Then I came home and we were supposed to have a dinner date but they cancelled on us. So I took Jay to the park and we took some fabulously fun fall photos. See a few of my favorites below. I was a little sad most of the leaves have blown off the trees but there where still a few. Jay was a real good sport about gettting his picture taken (he's usually not a fan) and he even attempted to climb up into a tree however that didn't turn out so good.

    From the ride home...

    Something odd -
I was driving home from work today and I got stuck behind this car who was riding with it's passenger door open about 6 inches. The weird part was there was a passenger sitting there holding it open. I couldn't tell if the lady sitting there (without a seatbelt) was holding a broken car door closed (not very well) or if perhaps she was getting ready to jump out the door so naturally I didn't want to pass them for fear I might run her over. I finally did at a stop light. Hopefully she wasn't really planning to jump out as I can't imagine that's a good idea. So that's my weird story from the ride home.

    Here's my dumb one -
I noticed a personalized plate on the way home too - AAWRKS and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the heck this meant. I thought mayeb it was A Awkwards or something like that. So I when I got a phone call I asked my co-worker who told me it was AA Works. hehe talk about thinking I was an idiot.

So those were my observations from the ride home. What caught your eye?

    Has anyone seen...

my shoes? It's gotta cold outside and I can't seem to locate many winter shoes to wear to the office.

    10.21.2006

    Lookie here...

I'm ebaying for the first time ever. Click Here. Yay me! Hopefully I did everything right.

If it all goes well I'm going to unload some of Jay's baseball cards before they take over my whole house.

Well the bright side seems to be working...

today I was in much better spirits Tracy thinks it's the christmas lights in my office - which it might be but I think it's that I'm not letting things get to me as much. Could also be the weather it was back in the 70's today although that won't last. But I sure did enjoy wearing my flipflops without socks today.

Tuesday 10 – Looking on the Bright Side

Things haven’t been all peaches and roses at the office lately so today I implemented the “On the Bright Side Outlook” and it seems to be working so far. So everytime things go wrong I’m finding something right about it. So here’s the list of bright things I’m not even going to share the “bad”.

    1. I get to chat with Kim, Jeanne, and JJ on google :o)
    2. Found a CD with my missing Fonts on it
    3. They installed properly.
    4. Gregg’s class is going well despite my prior concerns.
    5. Had lovely conversations with both Cheri and Tracy – two fun co-workers.
    6. Alan sent me some jokes – “Two Antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent.”
    7. Jill got the Easy Button I ordered her – she’s such a hoot I keep hearing her push it over there.
    8. Today was a pizza lunch meeting day.
    9. And Ralph came from Texas to speak to the group – he said such nice things about our division.
    10. Stamp Club Tonight – having something to look forward to that’s always nice.

    10.16.2006

    Well today wasn't all bad...

I still have the mondays but a few fun things happened. (I'm trying to get focused more on the good if you can't tell).
    • Gregg (one of my favorite instructors) sent Jill and I a DVD postcard.
    • And Alan sent me a fun email with something like 300 photos of his dog in it.

    Case of the Mondays

I have a severe case of the monday's today.
    I don't want to work.
    Nothing seems to work properly.
    Couldn't log-in right away.
    Acrobat keeps locking up.
People showing up late for class.
I think I just need to go home and start over again tomorrow.

Here's to a super terrific Tuesday or so I hope.

    Tuesday 10 - 10 Signs of Fall

This Tuesday 10 is dedicated to Jeanne and Fall because it was Jeanne's idea and Fall is upon us.

    1. It's Football Season - (aka bengals beating up on the Steelers)
    2. Squirrels are getting fatter - there's a fatty livin' in the tree across the way from us.
    3. I have to close my windows at night so I don't freeze
    4. No more lawn mowing (can't come at a better time our mower broke)
    5. Leaves are changing color.
    6. There's dew on the car in the morning when I don't park in the garage
    7. Things at work pick up so it's hard to get anything really done.
    8. Sometimes I wear Socks with my Flipflops.
    9. Pumpkins, apples, and other goodies at the orchard
    10. Indiana Pacers are getting in trouble again (okay this isn't really a sign of fall but seems like they like to get in trouble in the fall).

    Movie Review: The Departed

Here's what I thought of The Departed -

Definently was a good story line and good characters and you didn't need to be a brain surgeon to follow along (all +'s in my book). There were some funny parts and it didn't come all together like I thought it might. Not a kids movie at all lots of graphic violence and swearing. But overall I enjoyed it I didn't feel like they robbed me of $12 for two tickets to a 2pm show and it was nice date with Jay. I'd say 3 1/2stars of 4.

    Fun Stuff

Aren't these the funnest photos? They are from the orchard a few weeks ago. It was raining!

Going to lunch with friends at this fun place Friday. Anyone like Turkish Food? It'll be a first for me I can't wait.
