TURF - Presented by IDADA

This is quite possibly my favorite Super Bowl exhibit experience in the city and it has nothing to do with football!   They converted the old Interim Library into art installations featuring Indianapolis Artists.  It's FREE!  It's accessible! It's COOL!
I wish I had photographed all the installations but instead you get just a snippet.  I'm so glad I got down there before the last day of the exhibit - which I think is tomorrow.   Anyhow many of the exhibits are interactive they encourage touching and moving around to see them from different angles.  Many use recycled materials and multi-media format.  Check it out if your in Indy it's worth finding parking in the Super Bowl Chaos and going - FYI it's a quick jog from Mass Ave.
Anyhow enjoy some snaps I shot, which don't really do it justice.

Closets.,Picnics, Art & 100 Acres

I cleaned out my closets and drawers I got rid of a whole bunch of clothes.
I cleared off this many hangers.
And this is how styling I am when I clean - yes polkas and stipes
And I have a whole new box of t-shirts for my t-shirt quilt - that makes three I guess I should stop volunteering and doing acquiring t-shirts at events
There was a picnic.
And some large "LOVEly" art

And a very LARGE Bug (and some small ones too)

And some jumping and frolicking

We saw 100 acres - which I think is one of the coolest things happening right now in Indy.

I wish we had got to tour Indy Island - I did leave them a note I can't wait to see it posted, and to go back and trade for something.  It's made by this artist Andrea Zittel, and there are some art students living in it.

And then there was dancing in the rain and a downpour where we got drenched in the 100 acres at which point the camera was put in a trash bag to avoid being ruined.

Stikman

after wondering why I keep seeing all the "little men" all over boston I decided to just google it and see what came up and check it. I found it - he's called Stikman - and apparently he's all over the US - in Brooklyn, DC, Chicago, Hollywood - check some sightings out here. Anyhow I am just so excited to find out more because this has been bugging me.
**Updated** - Jodie - I have only seen them in Boston but my guess is if the artist has been to Indy there are some there - however generally Indy is not "street art" friendly it's too clean.

I just felt like blogging

I don't really have anything too exciting to share - I'm lounging around I haven't even bothered to shower, jono is napping on the couch, mom may or may not be coming up with dinner, thinking about the home remodeling projects, planning to hit home depot/lowes/menards up today and get a new toilet for the master bath (yes I know you were interested to know this), should probably start up some laundry, oh and I may go to the Y and swim today. Oh delightful. And for more rambling...

A little artist discovery - James Castle - I wish I hadn't missed his exhibit at AIC - I really wanted to go see it - oh well. Such an interesting life and his art is very cool some made from found objects. Isn't this piece lovely? He was deaf, mute, and mentally challenged, perhaps even autistic.

This book. I wish it wasn't sold out I have a feeling I might get bored this winter.Fancy ceramics that look like pie pans - found here.
I have this sudden urge to go out and buy all things pink although I will resist the urge.
pink socks.
pink cupcakes.
pink sweaters.

bikes.

suitcases.
Oh and this is a super fun blog - Mostly Useless Things I want. Because sometimes we just want something useless (although I do have a thing for practical.
Happy Saturday!

#18 - Vending Art

The lovely #18 is done. I think I bought some vended art in Rhode Island too but just in case that was last year I figured I better buy some today since it's the last day to complete my 2009 list. So I took myself to the eiteljorg museum to get some more. This is probably my 12th piece of art bought in a vending machine - there's something so fun about not knowing what you are going to get. Today's score was a piece by helen harris - it's very wintery seems an appropriate option for today - you can see more of Helen's art here.
