Clothes
Back in like 2019 I was trying to diversify my wardrobe adding more colors and patterns. Well this morning I was hanging up some clothes and I noticed I finally did it. I didn’t add a bunch of prints really only a few. I actually found I am not really into prints. But I have added some color to the mix. My wardrobe has mostly become an athleisure work from home sort of mix. But I now have sweaters and sweatshirts in a variety of colors most of these are solids no words even but I did mix it up. If I had taken a closet picture from those days it would have been 90% black and gray and now it’s like a rainbow.

July Miles
July I had 111.65 miles. A few football moms and I started walking at least a mile during every practice which has really helped bring the number up. Even on days when we are like it’s soooo hot we try to at least make two “laps”. We talk about life and walk and sweat and just enjoy being in each others company. This brings my total up to 677.05.
Photo is unrelated but from the other night where I took the kids and we ran thru the sprinklers.

21 - Ladies Night
The other day was “ladies night”. Months ago thea heard on the radio about this magical time called “ladies night” at some bar where they have like $2 drink specials for all the ladies and she was like “mom we need to get all the ladies, get dressed up and go to ladies night.” She wrote it on her bucket list and tonight was the night. The girls got dressed up and they did their makeup. I couldn’t recall the bar in question so we took them to Ainsley’s Cafe hoping we could sit on the water sadly it was raining but the “ladies” didn’t seem to notice. thea insisted on steak which of course was like a 24 oz steak so she shared this with her friend and they still didn’t finish it. Also thanks to my friend Sarah for coming with me so I didn’t have to make conversation with 7 year olds the entire time.

May Miles
May is long since gone but I forgot to tally the miles, so here’s a recap.
In May I had 3 days over 5 miles and a few over 4. I ended the month with 90.51 miles which isn’t exactly great clearly work days i need to make better efforts, but I will take it. This brings the yearly total to 465.01.

37 - Hockey School
He had such a good time at hockey school! I am so glad he got to experience this. He told me it was like a taste of college. His high points were - having his own debit card, friends, dorm time, snack machines, the shooting speed thing, and having a candy table in his room. Least favorites - early morning call times & losing all the scrimmages :(

4 - host an art club - shoe painting
We hosted an art wit club with our friends and painted shoes. It was so fun to see everyone’s designs and different takes on painting shoes. If we did it again I’d have less paints and more mixing cups the kids seemed very interested in making their own colors and did even though we had similar colors already mixed. Lol!

April Miles
In April I added 97.64 miles to the tally. I did have several days where I didn’t wear my watch but I had 3 days where I walked 8+ miles so it helped keep it real. This brings the yearly total to 374.5 hours, a little off the pace for 100/month but not the worst tally.
Photo of shoes I painted at Kathleens bachelorette party I am leaning towards something similar in my office.

32 - finish a quilt
First finish in two years. Year that’s right I have had years where I finished 10 quilts but 22 was a big dry spell for me. I did work on various projects but nothing was finished. This one I started and finished in a month it’s a baby quilt for my friends baby. It’s bigger than it looks, as it’s almost official crib size. I love the amount of stripes in this one. I keep buying striped fabric and I especially love red/white stripes. The quilting is entirely freehand I wrote the babies name, mom, dad, love Katie, 2023, and more in the quilting although it’s hard to just identify. It crinkled up so nice in the wash. I did add a homemade tag where it says the babies last name on the front and <3 Katie on the back.

46 - move raspberries
For the record I moved the raspberry bushes the other day. I found that several of them were “hoppers”. Starting new plants from the other side of the vine right in my other flower bed. See second picture.
I am hopeful they all survive the move i gave them some plant food. Over the winter they had really developed a good root base so I probably should have moved them back in the fall. Although my friend with all the berry bushes seems to think they will spread quickly.

March Miles
In March despite some warmer days my mile count was down. Probably because of work (I wrote 5 new courses in March, working many evening hours). I hit 85.15 miles. It brings my total to 276.86. So onward upward in April.

February Miles
So in February I did not wear my watch 5 days like at all but I ended the month with 79.76 miles brining my total to 191.71 miles. It’s not terrible but considering the difference in Jan to Feb it’s not great I do want to increase the number in March not sure if work is going to agree but we will see.

Brazil - brigadeiro
One of our 2023 family goals is trying foods from other countries. Jones brought home a cookbook for Brazil the other day and he picked out a recipe for brigadeiros which are like Brazilian fudge balls? Anyhow we made the recipe and tried it and while ours did not set up right (we probably cooked it too long), it didn’t taste bad and my kids have enjoyed it on ice cream the last few days. It’s almost like a pudding with the consistency of ours but still good on ice cream.

January Miles
I didn’t put this on my list but I have been tracking my miles and trying to increase at least walking activity wise. January was an okayish month despite being very active with work. I hit 111.95 miles and that’s with like 4 days where I didn’t even wear my watch. So here’s to hoping I can have an active trend continue into February.

46 - Make New Soup
I started working on my list already. I started with a favorite thing SOUP. I love soup most of the time I can get my kids to eat it although Jones immediately tapped out when I said it was corn chowder however grandma and Thea were both down. I used a recipe from here https://pin.it/7ftQgqR
I used extra chicken broth because I let it cook down a bit and seemed to need more liquid. But overall we were pleased and I enjoyed leftovers all week. It reminded me of my time in Boston where everyplace had chowder and I often would have clam chowder almost once a week.
