Project Life Week 14 aka Wedding Week

I got the wedding photos and immediately printed a bunch for project life.  Skipping over week 14 has drove me nuts!  The first part of the wedding week was super cold and I was in NYC with Kathleen.  This did not stop us from riding the ferry, getting ice cream, or finding the Ferris wheel in Times Square.  Then there was the wedding I forgot to print photos of the rehearsal and setup but I like it anyway.  No real fancy techniques I did the large photo split into dividers with a print which I love.  And made a few collages with things saved.  I also need to put the saved program invite and a few other momentos into a pocket, but I consider this complete anyhow.
Thanks to Jodie Minniear for being our excellent wedding photographer.

Summer Reading List

Since I have now discarded that dreadful reading list a friend gave me. I thought I might share the list I created for my real summer reading list. And yes I do know the odds of me reading all these books this summer are pretty much null but I'm still making the list. Anyhow in no particular order.
  •  Bossypants - Tina Fey
  • The Post American World - Fared Zakariah
  • My Not So Storybook Life - Elizabeth Owen
  • Wild:  From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail - Cheryl Strayed
  • That Used to Be Us - Thomas Friedman & Michael Mandlebaum
  • A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - Betty Smith
  • A Clash of Kings - RR Martin (I am almost finished with this so I better add book 3)
  • A Storm of Swords - RR Martain
  • Detroit an American Autopsy - Charlie Leduff
I should also note that this list by no means is one you should probably copy - the books I read as of late have been dreadful and I am the opposite of a book critic - I don't even really like reading but I try to read so maybe I will start reading.

Glamour Shots

We had a little throwback Thursday and we did glamour shots - inspired by a photo Kathleen saw at her grandmas.  We of course knew we should do our own since we didn't back in 1994.   I had many issues getting my hair teased without a comb and because it just wanted to fall straight but we made it into a bob and that seemed best.  We used things we had around the house as props including roses Dustin cut us from the garden.  They turned out pretty hilarious we have a little bit of a drag queen look to us.  But it was hilarious and fun. Anyhow enjoy the shots.

Tuesday 10 - Just a week in June.

Well this week I slipped in the subway and sprained my ankle. So my favorite NYC activity walking around has the kebosh on it and I've found I need something else to do - so in addition to reading and working on Project Life I thought I might come up with a few lists this week starting with a good old Tuesday 10.
1. These business cards by Oh Hello!  I want some for Best of Life
2. Bean Sprouts - I have been putting these on everything it seems - we eat them rolled in lunchmeat, on sandwiches, in salad, - yum
3. Vitamin Water in Lemonade - It's a good soda substitute when I want soda.

4. Discovering that Keds are coming back in style.  I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE my Keds and wore them clean through.  I can't wait to get myself a pair of the new Keds or maybe someone can get them for my birthday.  (I wonder if these classify as Business Dress???)
5. I'm the featured blogger at Craft Foxes - How cool is that, they asked me about it after seeing some of my wedding crafts.
6. Staying up to date on the latest Detroit news (not sure why but this is the latest obsession.
7. This cool Beatles song illustrated project.
8. My new go bag from Fat Face - I couldn't find a picture of my bag but it's the same fabric as this one.
9. Warby Parker Glasses - I want these green Arthur ones but this girl already has a lot of glasses although I get the most compliments on my Crosby Warby Parker's.
10. Getting text messages from my brother that he and Lo are not only Goodwill Shopping by re-purposing.  All those years of projects wore off on him or maybe it's really Lo!

155/365

Another week complete this week was my first week home in what seems like ages.  I was glad for it and oh so ready for it.  I hadn't spent more than 2 days consecrutive with Dustin since our honeymoon and he spent so many of those days on call.  But last week came and went too fast.
Monday - too lazy to go to the store dinner casserole
Tuesday - we took a three mile walk around our neighborhood, even I walked on streets I never had.
Wednesday - work from home under a sweet afghan made by nanny p.
Thursday - Glamour Shots Kathleen has already used hers for pranking.
Friday - Bachelorette party for Brit which took us to the drag show - quite the spectacle although I like dancing Bachelorette parties better.
Saturday - we went to some weird parking lot fair specifically to the Ferris wheel which only had 4 people on it so the ride lasting extra long.
Sunday - Watching the Blues lose two in a row and my husband forgetting his knickers so we had to get him pants
Now I am back to NYC sitting in traffic at the holland Tunnel - UGH Mondays!

52 Books - Girls In White Dresses - Book 18

Girls in  White Dresses by Jennifer Close was on that summer reading list along with Friday Night Knitting that someone gave me and again I was not so impressed with it.  Clearly I need another summer reading list that doesn't involve books about girls who seem so blah.  This book jumped around so much covering a vast array of girls going to weddings of other girls, and girls who do not seem to be good friends and girls who just whine and seem loathsome.  It was not my kind of book obviously, albeit a quick read.   I have now discarded the other books on the list and put several non-fiction books on hold at the library and I'm working my way thru book 2 of Game of Thrones, which while I don't care much for fantasy books I'm finding the series can at least keep my attention.

Honeymoon in Ireland

I realized the other day as I wrote the last wedding post that I have not blogged about our two weeks in Ireland honeymooning.  It was awesome.  We stayed primarily at the Shelbourne in Dublin but also at a B&B in Doolin.  It was completely different from my prior trip to Ireland back in 2009 with Jono, even though Dustin and I stayed at the same hotel and even went to some of the same places.   It was cool most of the trip and we needed jackets and sweaters a plenty, but that is Ireland.  High points of the trip:
  • Driving on those teeny words from the wrong seat.
  • Beauty of the cliffs of Moher
  • My husband eating fish and chips daily
  • Looking for a missing irish dolphin
  • Doolin which was quite lovely
  • Happening upon irish sea
  • Finding that windmill in the middle of no-where
  • Making friends with some characters in a local pub
  • Discovering that I really like irish brown bread
  • Trying to determine the weather of ireland rest assured it would rain regardless of what we thought.
  • The Burren.
  • Irish Stonehenge in the rain.
  • Wandering the streets of Dublin.
  • Shopping in Irish shops.
  • Visiting oh so many castles.
  • Kilmanhiam Goal.
  • Searching for rainbow colored doors.
  • and much much more.
Here are some of the photos we snapped.  Dustin is in way more of the photos than me as I usually am the one snapping them but we did get a handful with the both of us.
